Legionella Analysis (Analysis done using ISO Methods)

M341 (not for use in NY State):  Legionella pneumophila confirmation (ISO culture method)

and enumeration. Individual serotyping not included. Other species reported as Legionella sp.

M342:  Legionella pneumophila confirmation (ISO culture method) enumeration of

individual serotypes 1-14. Other species reported as Legionella sp.

M343:  Legionella Species confirmation (ISO culture method) and  individual enumeration of 11 Legionella species (L. anisa, L. bozmanii, L. dumoffii, L. feeleii, L. gormanii, L. jordanis, L. longbeachae, L. maceachernii, L. micdadei, L. pneumophila, and L. sainthelensi) and their individual serotypes.

Other species can be requested for an additional charge.

M344:  ISO filter direct for water expected to have low bacterial concentrations (bottled water, water for dialysis, distilled water). 11 Legionella species (above) and their respective serotypes, identified and enumerated individually. Other species reported as Legionella sp.

M345:  Identification and enumeration (ISO culture method) of L. pneumophila serotype 1

L. pneumophila serotypes 2-14, and Legionella sp.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Legionella Panels

The M164 Legionella qPCR panel includes three molecular assays providing the following results:

·     A qualitative (+/-) result of Legionella spp with broad specificity for bacteria of Legionella genus

·     A quantitative result (Cell Equivalents/100 ml) of L. pneumophila species

·     A qualitative result (+/-) of L. pneumophila serotype 1

EMSL is the only commercial testing lab providing serotyping to serogroup 1 level by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). The  three qPCRs in this panel are performed in parallel, assuring very high accuracy of the results. Each assay serves as confirmation to another therefore reducing a chance of both false positive and false negative results.  This test complies and is validated according to ISO/TS 12869:2012 Water quality. Detection and quantification of Legionella spp. and/or Legionella pneumophila by concentration and genic amplification by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
